Brixham Fish Market, Devon

‘a new market for flourishing fishing port’

Brixham, South Devon, is a flourishing fishing port, serving over 100 vessels landing their catches and selling them at Brixham Fish Market. This project is a key part of the regeneration of the port, providing a world-class fish market with online auction facilities, a fish restaurant and catering school together with modern fish processing and industry support.

Our brief from landscape architects LDA design was to create a highly recognisable-lit façade, to highlight the fish market and restaurant. Coloured blue light was chosen to resonate with the colour of the sea and the spectacular night sky overhead.

The £17m project now takes pride of place in the regeneration programme promoted by Torbay Development Agency. Brixham continues to be a sustainable fishing port, with the highest value catch in England and world- renowned quality.
