Redhayes Bridge, Devon

“Redhayes Bridge is establishing a link between science and the community, providing a safe journey and positive travelling experience”

Parsons Brinckerhoff – M&E Consultant

Devon County Council has completed a new infrastructure project to link to the economic development in the Exeter and East Devon Growth Point, and Redhayes bridge is the first element to be completed.

The Growth Point will expand knowledge-based jobs in the area, with the Exeter Science Park and Skypark business development expected to create more than 10,000 jobs and generate around £450 million in private sector investment. The Redhayes Bridge was opened by Transport Minister Norman Baker on 20 July 2011.

The pedestrian and cycle bridge is an excellent example of how green travel routes can be built into major developments and reduce the need to travel by car. The aim of this bridge is to make Exeter far more accessible for more environmentally friendly modes of transport.

The new Redhayes Bridge was lit using iGuzzini Linealuce LED products, installed in the pillars to illuminate the deck.
