Up, Red Dot Product Design Award 2021
Up, the forthcoming Arkoslight lamp designed by the brand’s product manager, Rubén Saldaña, has taken the Red Dot Design Award: Product Design 2021. The members of the jury who selected this year’s winners highlighted the excellence of Up, which will soon be available along with the rest of the technical lighting firm’s new products for 2021.
Like the line that separates heaven and earth, Up marks a horizon in space. Its light, projected vertically, evokes a natural glow that penetrates the room. The luminaire bathes the ceiling plane directly and consequently the environment is illuminated with a comfortable indirect light.
The omission of driver electronics and sensors of Occhio pro luminaires enables direct connection to various external control gear. Occhio pro luminaire are thus fully compatible with building technology and bus systems such as DALI and KNX, but can alternatively also be operated with the Bluetooth-based Occhio air app or Casambi.
Up stands as a noble piece, a whole made of a single material. With its pronounced slenderness, it elegantly holds a light plate so that the light emanates from. This floor lamp is a rational and sober sculpture, crowned by a luminous aura. Its cylindrical body combines harmony and visual serenity that is transmitted around it.
“The winners of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021 were particularly impressive this year. The design of their products is excellent, in terms of both the aesthetic and the functionality. It’s not easy to prevail in such a strong field of competitors and to win over our jury. Consequently, I want to congratulate the laureates very sincerely on their success,” said Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot.
