New: Mansion House

As part of Bristol Zoological Society’s ‘Strategy to 2035’ the decision was made to refurbish the Hollywood Mansion House building, to become the headquarters of the charity and its staff hub. The Society approached One Eighty Light to help deliver a lighting solution that would meet the needs of the organisation and its people, and that would be in keeping with the Mansion House’s listed status.

Pois

From fine fashion fabric prints to outdoor decor, floating against backdrops of striking architecture or colourful nature, the Pois light camouflages itself like a firefly in the garden, peeping through the bushes. Art director and creative for Karman Matteo Ugolini slips away from ordinary design outlines entering along with the company in a unique and distinctive path.

Hollands Licht

A Dutch painter once said, “I don’t paint cows, I paint light”. The play of light and dark, of sky and landscape, has been a source of inspiration for artists and designers for centuries. The use of light and the effect this has plays an important role in the Hollands Licht collection. The subdued colour palette is a nod to Dutch art of the Golden Age.

The Museum of the Moon

Museum of the Moon is a touring artwork by UK artist Luke Jerram. Measuring seven metres in diameter, the moon features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface. At an approximate scale of 1:500,000, each centimetre of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents 5km of the moon’s surface. Over its lifetime, the Museum of the Moon will be presented in a number of different ways both indoors and outdoors, so altering the experience and interpretation of the artwork. As it travels from place to place, it gathers new musical compositions and an ongoing collection of personal responses, stories and mythologies, as well as highlighting the latest moon science.

If you are in the UK, you can view the installation at the Old Royal Naval College, London, from 13th December 2022 until 5th February 2023.
